This has always been a challenging and stimulating experience. I have
derived great satisfaction in knowing that our club is still an industry
leader and the Clubs Assets and Members Interests have been and will
continue to be my main concerns.
Ken English
Grad Dip Emp. Rel. MAICD, JP. I have been a member of the Cronulla R.S.L
Memorial Club since 1974 and a Board member for the past two years.
I am the Junior Vice President of the R.S.L Sub-Branch, Senior VP of
the Mens Bowling Club and Secretary of the Memorabilia Group. A member
of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and Club Directors
Institute. I have broad experience at executive level in the private,
public and voluntary sectors. With my academic qualifications and business
experience in human resources and administration, I bring to the Board
both skills and a commitment to the Club membership, to maintain and
enhance amenities and benefits for their ongoing use.
Ian Bourke
I have been a Director of the Cronulla R.S.L Memorial Club Director
since December 2002 and am currently the Junior Vice President (2 years)
Sub-Committees: Executive, Finance/ Audit, Building and House Committees
I am currently a member of the following Sub-Clubs: Swimming Club, Men’s
Bowling Club, Over 55’s Club and Memorabilia Club Retired from
New South Wales Police Force with 34 years service
Outside Interests: Past President Australian Swimming, Past President
and Life Member of Cronulla Polar Bears, Past President and current
Committee Member Club of St George Leagues Swim Club Executive Member
– New South Wales Police Council of Sport Since December 2002,
I have represented the Club as a Director and Junior Vice President
within the Club Industry and the community. With the ideas of the current
Board I am confident that any new challenges can be met. I am also confident
that the Board will be able to meet all tasks that lie ahead, which
will result in our Club moving forward. Although, with the economy badly
weakened, the Board will have to make hard choices and decisions.
Gordon Williams JP
Board Member past 7 years. (Building, house and donations committees)
Member of Club Directors Institute. I have attended all Educational
& Instructional Seminars/ Workshops dealing with ‘Leading
to Better Board Practices’, ‘Good Decision Making’
and the current series ‘Managing Technology for Competitive Advantage’.
I am committed to the implementation of the Clubs Strategic Plan in
conjunction with the Clubs NSW Code of Best Practice. I have resided
in Caringbah/Cronulla for 45 years. I am a retired Detective Inspector
of Police (NSW) and Senior Investigator (ATO).
Qualifications: Graduate Certificate Management (W’gong Uni) Qualified
Chef (East Syd Tafe) Certified Conciliator. Member: Cronulla RSL Swimming
Club. I have actively participated in the major repairs and refurbishment
of the Swimming Club’s dressing room facilities over the past
two years. Cronulla RSL Men’s Bowling Club and the Memorabilia
Group. Cronulla Golf Club for 42 years (3 years on the board). Wanda
SLSC 50 years (carried out several committee appointments). Foundation
Member and past President St George Leagues Swimming Club.
I support the President and my fellow Directors in our endeavours to
continually improve the members facilities and at the same time work
in a close harmonious relationship with the management to achieve the
best cost effective outcomes.
John Brown
F Fin I have been a director of the club for one year and have enjoyed
my involvement in club management. During this time I have occupied
positions on the following important committees: Finance, Audit, Membership,
Constitution/Articles and House. Prior to my joining the Board I had
years of Voluntary work with surf lifesaving and other community organisations.
My work experience includes many years as a senior banker, working in
finance and personal fields. I believe this background has equipped
me well to be able to continue to make a valuable contribution to our
club in these difficult times.
Geoff Rout
Occupation: Business Consultant Member Cronulla RSL Memorial Club for
the past 17 years, Director for 8 years and holding the position of
Treasurer/Director for the past 2 years. For the majority of my life
I was employed in the International Freight Forwarding Industry holding
various management positions ranging from Supervisor through to General
Manager and Director. During this time I was also actively involved
in the Australian Federation of International Forwarders, which is the
Industry Representative Organisation, holding the positions of Victorian
President, NSW President & Director/Treasurer of the National Body.
My involvement with our Sub-Clubs includes service as Treasurer of the
55 & Over Club (6 years), Mens Bowling Club the Bowls Club. In July
2008 I was elected to the position of State Councillor for the Southern
Metropolitan Region of Clubs NSW which is the peak body representing
well over 1000 clubs in the state. I will continue my commitment to
supporting the President & Fellow Directors and to serve the interests
of all members in their enjoyment of the Club and it’s facilities
and to protect & enhance their investment for future members.
Warren Thomas
Age: 60 Occupation: Semi-Retired Company Director Work History: 37 years
Department of Defence retiring in 2002 Speciality: Finance and Contract
Management Cronulla R.S.L: Member over 35 years; President of the Sub
Branch since 2007. Registrar of the Sub Branch Mortality Fund. I have
been a member of Cronulla RSL since returning from service with the
Australian HQ in Vietnam and moving to the Shire. My specific Club focus
apart from the Board is in the Sub Branch and playing a leading role
in ensuring we provide assistance to older veterans for many years to
come.
I am a Deputy Chairman of the Australian Defence Credit Union Board
and hold accounting qualifications along with post-graduate qualifications
in Company Directorship. I have been a driving force in the preparation
and on-going review of the Cronulla RSL Strategic Plan. I am a keen
member of the Finance and Donations Subcommittees of the Board. I seek
re-election to the Board of Cronulla RSL to continue to serve the members
in a fair and efficient way. I support the values Cronulla RSL Club
represents and particularly its commitment to the ex-service contingent
and many Sub-Clubs that derive deserving support.
Ross Anthony Williams
It is with great pleasure that I put forward my nomination for re-election
to the Board. I have been a member of the Cronulla RSL for the past
42 years and a director for the past 11 years. In 2008 I was elected
life member of Cronulla RSL Memorial Club. Sub Committees include; Trustee
of the Mortality Fund for 4 years, Junior Vice President of AOC, Building
& Improvements, Club Membership and Fishing Committees. A member
of the Clubs NSW Institute of Directors. Member of the following Sub
Clubs: Mens Bowling Club, Fishing Club, Memorabilia Club, Quoits Club
and Over 55’s/ I have formal qualifications and extensive work
experience in Retail, Wholesale and Marketing for the duration of 37years.
I have also completed courses in Management Occupational Health and
Safety. My employment experiences in companies proven to be Market Leaders
include: Crestknit, Phillip Morris and Stuart Alexander with prime responsibility
being in fields of sales and management and promotional marketing. I
am 63 years of age, have two sons and have resided in the local area
of Cronulla for the past 59 years. A member of Cronulla SLSC for the
past 44 years, as well as the Sydney Branch Board of Control, which
has included the position of State and National Boat Marshall. I am
totally committed to the improvement of the RSL Club to benefit members
and to protect their interests. Thank you in advance for your support

Raymond Jack Hart
Business: 1939-1988 Food Industry: 41 years Sales and Marketing Management
Nationally and Internationally. Last position held before retirement
Marketing and Export Manager. War Service: RAAF 1943-1946. Served in
Darwin and overseas at Morotai and Balikpapan with 110 MFCU. Also served
with 36 Fighter Control Squadron US Army Air Force at Morotai. Personal:
Joined Rockdale RSL sub-Branch 1946 and transferred to Cronulla in 1956
joined the Memorial Club in 1956, director since 2001.
Member Memorabilia Group Committee since 2003, deputy chairman since
2005. Legatee at St George/ Sutherland Legacy simce 1969 still serving.
Member Spitfire Association since 1965 committee member since 1994,
served 13 years as secretary, 2 years as president, still serving on
committee as consultant. Thank you for your past support, if reelected
I will continue to work with President Terry Crowe and other directors
managing the finances and making sure the needs of the majority of members
are paramount at all times.
Peter John Scott JP
Cronulla RSL Memorial Club member since August 1998. Memorial Club Director
2003 – 2008. Director responsibilities over the past year include;
membership committee chairman and articles committee member. Club Director’s
Institute (CDI) member, attending Clubs NSW Southern Metropolitan meetings
and CDI workshops. Affiliated Organisations Council (AOC) President
2006 - 2008. Toastmasters Club President 2008 Memorabilia Group Committee
Member Mens Bowling Club Member.
As a board member for the past six years it has been my overall aim
to assist in the development and growth of our club as we provide pleasant
surroundings and enjoyable activities for members. This can only be
achieved by active involvement in effective strategic planning, keeping
abreast of the latest club industry trends and having a general knowledge
of government regulations controlling the club industry. If by your
support I am re-elected to the Board of Directors in 2009 my focus will
remain firmly on the needs of the Cronulla RSL Memorial Club and the
welfare of our members.
Kerry Arthur Cattell
Personal Details: Age 62, Resident of Cronulla, Married Education: Foundry
Metallurgist, Law, Finance and Management Courses Professional Associations:
Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management Employment: Served
with the Australian Army from January 1970 until December 1971. I spent
my time in the Australian Army Intelligence Corps and spent the last
12 months as the Counter Intelligence Operator in Duc Thanh District,
Phuoc Tuy Province, South Vietnam. Early in my career I moved from Metallurgy
to sales. At the time of my retirement I was a director of Foseco International
Ltd., a large English multinational company listed on the London Stock
Exchange. Apart from my director responsibilities I was operationally
responsible for Foseco’s business in China, South East Asia and
Australasia.
Directorships: I am currently a director of Wavesound Pty Ltd. A publisher
and supplier of large print books and audio books. Club: I have been
a member of the club for four years. Since joining I have been elected
to the Sub Branch Committee and am the treasurer of the sub-branch.
I have also been elected to the Sub-branch Social Club committee where
I am responsible for theatre parties and am assistant treasurer. My
Commitment: Cronulla RSL Memorial Club is situated in a premier position
and has a great deal to offer its members. If elected I will work diligently
with the President and other Directors to ensure our members needs are
met and that Cronulla RSL Memorial Club remains a top club venue.
Trevor John Halyard
Relevant Experience Shire Resident since 1954, mainly in Cronulla Ex
Commodore Royal Motor Yacht Club Port Hacking, having served as director
for a period of 12 years, 6 as Treasurer, Life Member Ex President Cronulla
Golf Club, member Cronulla Surf Club, member Cronulla RSL Bowling Club.
Other Experience Currently a director of two manufacturing companies
one in Queensland and one in Victoria and a director of an investment
company in N.S.W. Business Objective If elected as a director of the
Memorial Club I will work with the Board to ensure that the future of
